SOUTH BERWICK, MAINE
South Berwick Kitchen Remodel
Before
After
When this vibrant family reached out, they had a clear goal: open up their kitchen by pulling back a dividing wall to bring in more natural light. But once we began exploring the potential of the space, it became clear that a bolder approach could do even more. Rather than just scaling the wall back, we proposed removing it entirely—reimagining the layout to create a fully open, connected kitchen that better reflected their lifestyle and love of entertaining.
After raising two amazing kids (and two adorable dogs), this home had served them well—but it was time for something that matched their energy: strong, warm, community-focused, and stylish. We developed three distinct design concepts, and after just one collaborative meeting, they chose the most transformative option—the one that removed the wall altogether and introduced flanking galley-style walls framing one of the largest kitchen islands we’ve ever created.
This island became the heart of the new space, designed for everyday living and effortless hosting, with seating on both ends, a prep sink, full sink, and hidden storage throughout. Confident in the natural light that now flooded the space, we went bold with cabinetry: Maritime Blue from Mid-Continent Signature, full overlay maple with five-piece drawer fronts for a cohesive look.
To finish the palette, we selected Aria Quartz countertops with subtle dark veining to complement the cabinetry, Honey Bronze hardware from Top Knobs, and Blanco undermount sinks for a clean, elevated finish. The result is a kitchen that feels just right for the next chapter of this family’s life—open, bright, and full of character.
